Master strokes - Dhaka Art Summit in April

Samdani Art Foundation (SAF), in collaboration with Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) and Bangladesh National Museum (BNM) in Dhaka, will organise the first Dhaka Art Summit.

The summit will be held from April 12 to 15 in the city of Dhaka. Sponsored by City Bank and American Express, the main venues of the summit will be the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and Bangladesh National Museum. Several other venues will host exhibitions, curatorial shows, seminars, presentations etc.


On the celebration of the smt, a media conference occured yesterday in the Seminar Area of BSA. Rajeeb Samdani, founder-trustee associated with SAF; Liaquat Ali Lucky, overseer general associated with BSA; Prokash Chandra Das, director common of BNM; designer Mohammad Muniruzzaman, convener of Peak Steering Panel; Mashrur Arefin, deputy managing director regarding City Financial institution; Nadia Samdani, director associated with SAF, among others talked at the push conference.

The actual speakers declared that the Dhaka Fine art Summit's intention would be to create a worldwide platform in order to showcase modern day art associated with Bangladesh. Through the wedding, the foundation aspires to create attention on the radiant Bangladeshi art landscape and at the same time frame attract artwork collectors.

SAF will even present 2 awards -- Samdani Designer Development Prize (worth Taka Ten lakh) and Samdani Youthful Talent Honor (Taka 5 lakh). Designers within the 20-35 generation are eligible to use.

At the invite of SAF, a global jury should come to Dhaka. The actual jury solar panel will include Kyla McDonald, curator associated with Tate Modern Memorial (England); Medical professional. Deepak Ananth, art historian and also expert (Portugal); Elaine W. Onal, editor as well as publisher associated with Art Asian countries Pacific; Native indian artist Ravinder Reddy as well as Bangladeshi expatriate painter Shahabuddin Ahmed.
Neha Kirpal, director of India Art Summit; Dr. Amin Jaffer, International Director of Asian Art at Christie's; Dr. Deepanjana Klein, chief of Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art Department; Yamini Mehta, specialist and head of Modern and Contemporary Indian Art of Christie's, among others, will speak at a number of seminars in Dhaka.
